It's a book worth celebrating.
Entitled Faces, the book is an anthology of short stories, poems, sculptures and other art mediums created by students and staff in the District School Board of Niagara.
The book was launched last Thursday with a celebration at Chapters book store in St. Catharines.
Thirty students from across the school board read and presented their creations to a crowd of nearly 100 listeners and book shoppers at the book store on Thursday night.
Amanda Williams was one of the students who participated in the reading.
"I wasn't nervous at all," said the 11-year-old Oakridge Public School student on reading her story to the crowded book store.
The Grade 5 student read her short story called "My Life in Trinidad" at the book launch. The story spoke of her experience living in the country, swimming in the ocean, and visiting the carnival.
Ten per cent of all proceeds collected during Thursday's book launch will be donated to the Niagara Educational Foundation, which provides funding for projects designed to enhance learning opportunities and using new and creative approaches for students served by the District School Board of Niagara.
The book is available at The St. Catharines Chapters outlet and at the DSBN Educational Centre, 191 Carlton Street, St. Catharines.
