Canada's most prized possession was in Niagara Falls last Thursday afternoon.
Hockey's holy grail, the Stanley Cup, was out on display at the New York Style Deli.
Jimmy Bedard, goaltending coach of the Detroit Red Wings, and Louie Muraco, owner of the eatery, showed off the cup for fans of all ages who lined up to get a picture and give the cup a kiss.
Muraco said that's all good excitement for the community and he was honoured to have the NHL's top trophy at his restaurant.
"It's always exciting, especially for the kids who come down and get to see the cup," he said.
Bedard, who grew up around the corner on Atlee Street, said it's nice to come back to his hometown and see the faces of people he hadn't seen for a while, because that was something he always wanted to do.
"It has always been a goal of mine, to come back here and touch the hearts of people I grew up with."
He also said this is going to be an annual stop for the cup -- that is, if the Red Wings keep winning. Last time the cup appeared at the deli was in 2002, the last year Detroit won the cup.
