Geneva Street in St. Catharines will be closed to traffic at the QEW starting Sept. 5 at 10 p.m.
The section is being closed to accommodate work on the QEW widening project and will be re-opened again at 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8. A portion of the bridge is being removed.
As the street is closed, drivers will be asked to use Carlton, Lake, Vine or Niagara streets, as well as Welland Avenue or the North Service Road.
Vehicles travelling southbound toward the QEW on Geneva will be directed to use the North Service Road or Carlton Street. Northbound vehicles will only be able to turn left on Dunlop Drive as the other direction has already been closed. Alternately, drivers can use Welland Avenue.
Emergency responders have been made aware of the closing and have alternate routes in place in case the need arises.
