Get ready for a weekend of all things Italian as tonight's pasta dinner kicks off the fourth annual Italia in Festa.

During tonight's pasta dinner and dance at Club Belvedere, Little Miss Italia and Little Mr. Italia will be revelaed. The Riganelli family will also pass their title to the next Italian family of the year during tonight's dinner.

The Riganelli family owned Riganelli's bakery for nearly 50 years before selling it when Mario, Nick, Neno and Gino Riganelli retired from the family business.

"It was truly a great honour to be named Italian family of the year," said Lucy Riganelli.

Terry Dow, organizer of Italia in Festa, said the weekend will not disappoint.

"It's going to be amazing and everyone should come out," she said.

Tomorrow, Front street will be closed from St. Davids road to Regent Street as downtown is transformed into authentic Italian Piazza or outdoor market, filled with all things Italian from food, entertainment and dances.

All the Italian clubs in the city will be serving up fresh Italian grub, from pasta and meatballs to pizza to sausage on a bun. There will also be ice cream and a live cooking demonstration from Dave Paquet.

A bocce ball tournament will take place all day on the west side of the Regent and Front street intersection and a wine and beer garden will be set up all day long, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Jonesy, a cover band, will be the headline the entertainment and will hit the stage at 9 p.m. Paul Lalama, a true Italian and guitarist for the band, guarantees a great show.

"We're a really fun band and we know how to engage with the audience," he said.

"I'm excited."

If you think you have the best pasta recipe on Earth, enter it in Da Besta Pasta Sauce contest, which will take place on the stage at 3:45 p.m. Last year, Elizabeth Difruscio took the prize for best sauce with a special blend of tomatoes, pork ribs, meatballs and sausage.

New this year are Italian police officers roaming the streets as well as Roman soldiers performing army drills. The soldiers will be available for photos afterwards. All of the fun on Saturday will go live to air on Radio Uno.

Tomorrow's fun starts at 11 a.m. and the pasta dinner and pageants kick off tonight at Club Belvedere at 6 p.m.
