A Thorold resident was among 25 people across Ontario who have been selected to represent their peers at the inaugural BE HEARD Youth Initiative.
The initiative was launched by epilepsy agencies province-wide and the goal is to encourage youth with epilepsy between the ages of 15 and 20 to help eliminate the stigma surrounding this disorder.
Darcy Enns, a 16-year-old from Thorold, attended the initiative in Toronto last month.
The youth challenge will train youth ambassadors across the province specifically on how to speak up and be heard about the challenges of living with epilepsy.
Funding for the initiative is provided by a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. For more information contact Stacey Duncan, executive director of Epilepsy Niagara, at 905-353-1096.
