Two people were arrested as a result of an "in-depth drug investigation" into drug activity in Welland on Aug. 8, said police.
Police executed a search warrant at an Ontario Road home and found about $6,700 worth of alleged drugs. Both cocaine and oxycocet, a powerful prescription pain narcotic, were found in the home, according to a police media release.
Also found was about $1,000 in Canadian currency, said police.
Arrested were two Welland residents, a man, 33, and a woman, 31. Both face charges of drug trafficking, as well as possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.
"We encourage community members to contact police to curtail any future community-based problems," said Detective Const. Matt Hodges in a media release.
The man was taken into custody pending a bail hearing, while the woman was released on an officer-in-charge undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
