Man who ran naked along canal nabbed, say cops

A Welland man, 28, is facing indecent acts charges following accusations that he exposed himself along the canal trails over the past few months.

The man was arrested last week. Police say the suspect repeatedly exposed himself in Dain City near the rowing club and also on the trail between East Main Street and Thorold Road.

Cops nabbed him on Aug. 1 when a woman called 911 after allegedly seeing the suspect running naked at about 10 a.m. on the north trail near the Dain City bridge. A detailed description helped officers identify the man and his vehicle, said police.

"As a result of this intense investigation this individual has been identified in several similar type incidents that have occurred over the past few months," said Detective Sgt. Dennis Hilliker in a media release. "Although none of the victims were harmed in any way the arrest of this individual will no doubt have an impact upon the safety, security and enjoyment of those individuals using these trails."
