Water rates on the rise in WL

Residents will see a seven per cent increase in water rates and fees this year.

The increase, which was originally passed during budget deliberations, was subject to a public meeting at town hall June 16.

Revenues and expenses, tabled in 2007 at $830,900, were upped to $956,000 for 2008.

Treasurer Stephanie Nagel advised that the full cost of the waterworks system was recovered by waterworks meter and bulk water revenues, service fees and miscellaneous fines and penalties.

The new rates, penalties and fees will be effective July 1.

The proposed water meter and water filling rates will be effective with July meeting.
