Friends and fans supporting the effervescent Ashley Gluchowski in her bid to become Miss Canada have a chance to make their vote count.

She's a live wire with a sunny smile and next week, while the judges decide who will wear the crown, residents can cast their votes in a separate title, Miss People's Choice, by logging onto www.misscanada.tv.

"The community has been very good to me," Miss Gluchowski said Saturday. She thanked Smithville Foodland which supplied all the hotdogs and fixings for a barbecue that gave the community a chance to wish her well.

"I am very thankful for the support."

She now heads to Toronto to compete in the Miss Canada pageant at Leah Posluns Theatre Aug. 24.

Until then, community members are encouraged to cast their votes for the Miss People's Choice.

Miss Gluchowski won the Miss Southern Ontario crown last December sponsored by Miss Canada Globe Productions and will now compete for the national crown against 22 other regional title holders from across Canada.

Egg Farmers of Ontario and Pride Homes of Beamsville have both sponsored her for the competition.
