Don't waste precious water
Letters
May 09, 2008
Canadians and Americans are the world's leading users of fresh water. Americans are now experiencing bona fide water shortages. The Canadian prairies are drying up. Great Lakes' levels are plummeting.

Canada's renewable fresh water supplies (water not retained in lakes, underground aquifers, and glaciers) are roughly only 40 per cent of what they had previously been thought to be -- 2.6 per cent of the worlds supply rather than 6.5 per cent,

Grass doesn't grow on driveways, so why water them? Use a broom to clean your driveway. Give your car a sponge bath and not a shower. Did you know that throughout the summer, half of all treated water is sprayed onto lawns and gardens?

Please! Don't be so naive to believe we have all kinds of fresh water as we don't.
