I cannot believe what the road department has just done to the Point Abino Road from Mitchner Road south to Erie Road. They have already done the same thing to Cherry Hill Blvd. from Garrison Road south to Nigh Road.
We had a beautiful road which was completely rebuilt within the past 10 years. In one day, they applied a binder coating of asphalt and then spread a layer of crushed stone onto the existing highway.
We have now been put back to living on a dusty, noisy and rough country road, rather than a smooth surfaced, well marked and lovely thoroughfare!
This resurfacing has made it very uncomfortable and unsafe for bicyclists. Any attempt to brake quickly will result in a slide on the loose gravel and loss of control of your car. It is dangerous and noisy and dirty and has ruined what was a perfectly finished roadway.
Presumably the purpose is to extend the life of the surface, but the cost in safety, in pleasure, in appearance, to what used to be a fine Point Abino Road, far exceeds any gain! It is painful to realize that we must live with this abomination for the foreseeable future!
