  • Welland Canals Advocate hike through Canal Valley West/Shipman's Corner. An easy hike on a groomed urban trail, accessible to all. Hike begins noon sharp.   • Mayor's Canada Day Picnic in "Canada's Most Patriotic City", 11 am to 11 pm, Battle of Beaverdams Park. Free Canada Day cake for the first 300 people Face painting, music, food and fun. Drumming circle at 9pm to drum down the sun. Fireworks at 10:15 pm Best Decorated Bike Contest for kids ages 4 to 14 at 11:45am.
