Thunderhawks defeat London in final home game of the season

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Thunderhawks wrapped up the home portion of their Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior B season June 21 with a 15-7 victory over the London Blue Devils.

A couple of nights later, the Thunderhawks completed the regular season with a 17-6 loss in Elora.

The Thunderhawks finished the season with a 6-14 record in fifth place in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Elijah Printup had three goals and two assists in the win over London while Dean Janzen added two goals of his own.

Matt Friesen, Jim Miccuci, Jordan Williams, James Slade, Sean Richardson, Lloyd Chrysler, Gehnew Printup, Sean Richardson and Marcus Lagerstrom chipped in with singles.

Goaltender Corey Henry added an assist.

The Thunderhawks annual golf tournament will be played at the NOTL golf course Saturday, Sept. 6.

It's a scramble format beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The other two local teams in the OLA's Junior B league both qualified for the post-season.

The Welland Warlords bounced back from two winless seasons to post a 10-10 record and in finish third place in the Southwest Division.

The St. Catharines Spartans finished second with a 11-9 record, also in the Southwest Division.

Six Nations won the division with a perfect 20-0 record.
