When some are in a warm place, enjoying turkey and the comfort of family, others are out pounding the pavement in the annual Man-A-Mile relay race, hosted by Niagara Regional Athletics Track and Field Club with its own team of track athletes. They look to have more participants than last year, with a total of 15 teams from St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Fort Erie and Grimsby, including travel and recreational soccer teams.

"Man-a-Mile is something that runners can feel proud they participated in," said club president Dave Trotter. "It gives kids and adults the chance to show what they're really made of."

The race will start in McFarland Park, off the Niagara Parkway in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and finishes at Oaks Park in Niagara Falls. The course is marshalled and marked with mile markers. Each runner runs a mile along the scenic Parkway. The second last runner enters Oakes Park and must run two laps, and hands off the baton to an anchor runner who runs four laps to the finish.
